Life continues happily in the Rowan house. His mommy is hoping that this Sunday night will be better than last Sunday night when he came down with his first ever cough. She didn’t trust the monitor to wake her up if anything went wrong, so she spent the night outside Rowan’s door, but other than coughing in his sleep, he was fine and happy the next morning.
This Sunday was rather exciting, with a visit to the bookstore in the morning (although his mommy regretfully must admit that he is getting too big for her to walk with him in the front carrier), followed by a very long nap and his first taste of butternut squash. Edible, but apparently not as good as bananas or avocados. Then his mommy and daddy’s friend Craig came over and they had a very nice time talking with him. Though at one point Craig accidentally made Rowan cry when he was telling a story that had an unfortunate shriek in the middle. But he more than made up for it with a juggling act that had Rowan completely enthralled.
Then everyone bundled up and went to Carl Shurz Park to meet Brigitte and Mayanne at the annual Christmas tree lighting, with Rowan dressed for the occasion in the reindeer outfit his Aunt Charm sent him. The lighting itself didn’t interest him, but the dozens of other kids watching the lighting had him looking about and excited while on Daddy’s shoulders.
After all that, he came home and was still able to go to sleep right on schedule, thumb at the ready, sugarplums dancing in his head.

Hello Podi Putha,
Enjoy your first X,mas.
