It’s official – flying with a toddler is not easy, but it’s totally worth it. Rowan had a wonderful time in both LA and GA. There were so many planes in the airport and things to do and different people to meet. He just didn’t know what to make of little Eli and let it be known:
Mommy – “Rowan, say good morning to Eli”
Rowan – silence
Mommy – “Rowan, say good morning to Daddy”
Rowan – “Good morning Daddy”
Mommy – “Rowan, say good morning to Eli”
Rowan – silence
But I think he did miss the little one because on the flight back he kept asking “Baby sleeping?”
He also had a great time in Atlanta reconnecting with Archie and Seeya and Auntie Charm, Uncle Ranjith and cousin Dillon. Dillon was an especially fun playmate, kicking the ball around the deck every chance they had. And Rowan got to clank away on the piano and really practice going up and down the stairs. And the tricycle! His feet were ever too short to reach the pedals but he loved walking around in it.
His only problem was going to sleep in a strange place. One night he spent an hour and half laying in bed, lights out, talking to himself about the day’s events, all the letters of the alphabet, counting to nineteen, the sounds a monkey makes, that Friday means yay, his entire vocabulary list . . . before finally nodding off.
Now that we’re back home, Rowan has been busy learning everything he can about large vehicles. Today’s highlight was a car transporter going down 2nd Ave as we walked to school. And he loves his construction books. He can’t get enough of them, although I think Mommy and Daddy have.
And Rowan had his first date! When her mom and I were outside the restaurant talking after dinner, we looked down to see them holding hands. That’s how they walk around in daycare, so it was perfectly natural for them. We were most amused.
It’s been an exciting time for everyone!

Every minute of the company you all had with us in Atlanta was intensely pleasurable and indelibly memorable !!
