Work, play, chat, and moonwalk

Wow, who knew toddlers could learn so much!  At 21mos Rowan actively knows over a hundred words and has passive knowledge of at least twice as much.  Mommy and Daddy are constantly amazed at what he’s picked up and what he remembers.  He’s not as into reading as he was a few weeks ago, but he’s been busy working on other skills. Some are good, like drawing and putting together legos, but others are a little less pleasant, like the whining.

So the other day when Mommy wasn’t making dinner fast enough for Rowan, he started whining away.  Mommy got a little tired of it and told him that all that whining was hurting mommy’s ears, and if he wanted to whine he could do it in the living room.  So he immediately stopped, but a crocodile tear stuck to his cheek.  And the next day during his walk with Daddy, when Rowan struggled to get out of the dry kiddie pool, he kept saying ‘no whining, no whining’ and calmed himself down.  And he hasn’t whined since.
So here’s a summary of our Presidents’ Day weekend.
